Our leadership

John Donovan, Jr.

Founder and Managing Partner

Mr. Donovan founded Donovan & Co. in 2007 to provide private equity and advisory services to energy entrepreneurs. Since inception, the firm has invested in 14 distinct energy companies and has advised on over $2.4 billion of advisory transactions across 54 deals.


Prior to forming Donovan & Co., Mr. Donovan spent five years at Quantum Energy Partners. Mr. Donovan joined Quantum during their second fund which targeted middle market investments in the upstream and midstream energy sectors. Mr. Donovan actively participated in the firm’s investment activities and supported the firm’s growth as a vice president from $300 million to over $3 billion in assets under management at which time he left to form Donovan & Co.


Mr. Donovan began his career in 2000 as an analyst with Credit Suisse (fka: Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette) where he focused on structured financings in the firm’s energy investment banking group in Houston. Mr. Donovan holds a B.B.A. in Finance with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Texas.

Responsible for sourcing and executing investment banking advisory transactions, Mr. Holton also leads investor relations and fundraising efforts for Donovan Growth Equity Partners, while serving on the investment committee.

Before joining Donovan & Co., Mr. Holton served as the Founder and CEO of Omega Sands (an Energy Founders Fund portfolio company) from 2017 – 2019.

With over a decade at Morgan Stanley's investment banking division, Mr. Holton's expertise spans U.S. refining, marketing, and logistics sectors, with extensive experience in Asia-Pacific energy markets and leveraged buy-out transactions for private equity firms.

With a background in finance from Southern Methodist University and an MBA from the University of North Carolina, Mr. Holton has executed over 50 capital markets and M&A transactions across the U.S. and Asia.

Managing Director

Mr. Page joined Donovan & Co. in 2017 as a managing director and brings more than 25 years of investment banking experience advising energy companies primarily in executing M&A transactions and capital raises. Mr. Page most recently served as chief financial officer and a member of the board of directors of Clearfork Midstream, a growth-oriented midstream company backed by an equity commitment from EnCap Flatrock Midstream, where he played a key role in Clearfork’s formation, financing, platform acquisition, and expansions. Prior to joining Donovan & Co., Mr. Page previously served in roles of increasing responsibility with Ernst & Young Capital Advisors, Stephens Inc., Citigroup, and Sanders Morris Harris. Mr. Page has been involved in mergers and acquisitions, public offerings, private placements, divestitures, leveraged buyouts, strategic consulting, and financial restructurings for companies across the energy value chain, including energy equipment and services, upstream, midstream, downstream clients. Mr. Page graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, where he received a BBA in Finance with a concentration in Accounting.

Jamie Showers

Managing Director

Mr. Showers joined Donovan & Co. in 2024 to focus on sales and distribution of Oil and Gas ABS securitizations. He is a securitized products specialist with over 25 years of sales and trading experience in fixed income focusing on esoteric ABS and other structured products.

Prior to joining Donovan & Co., he worked in senior roles at Cowen & Co, focused on Esoteric ABS and CMBS sales as well as sourcing bankruptcy claims in their Cross-Asset group. He also worked in the Structured Products group at Stifel Nicolaus, focused on sales of ABS, RMBS and Trust Preferred CDOs. Prior to that, he managed a large balance sheet at HSBC Bank, within their Derivatives group, focused across the spectrum of Structured and Securitized Products.

Mr. Showers holds a B.A. in Political Science from St. Lawrence University. He is Series 7, 24 and 63 licensed.

Jim Rode

Senior Advisor

Mr. Rode is an experienced energy executive with over 40 years of industry expertise. He recently joined Donovan & Co. as a Senior Advisor to the firm.

Throughout his career, Mr. Rode has held various executive roles, including Founder, CEO, General Counsel, and Board Member for five private and public energy companies. He is recognized for his ability to identify strategic business opportunities, support company growth from inception to sale or IPO, advise on complex financial and management decisions, and lead organizations through challenging market conditions.

Mr. Rode has led teams in the acquisition and divestiture of more than $2 billion in upstream and midstream energy assets and companies. He remains a member of the Kentucky Bar Association.

Managing Director

Joining Donovan & Co. in June 2022 as Managing Director, Capital Markets, Mr. Wagner leads efforts to partner with US broker-dealers, RIAs, and selected family offices in retail investment offerings.

With nearly 30 years of experience, Mr. Wagner previously served as Head of National Accounts at InvestX Capital, where he facilitated sales of pre-IPO unicorn shares. He has held leadership roles at global asset management firms like AllianceBernstein and Principal Financial Group.

A graduate of the University of Southern California with a BS in Finance and Business Economics and an MBA from the University of San Diego, Mr. Wagner actively contributes to industry committees and boards, including IMCA/IWI and ADISA.

Marcus Minton
Marcus Minton
Operations Partner

Beginning his career as an operations engineer at Lewis Energy Group, Mr. Minton oversaw coiled tubing and fracturing operations, managing completion of over 200 wells. Transitioning to Donovan & Co. as a Summer Associate, he led oilfield service assignments and co-founded Regiment, LLC. Holding a Bachelor’s of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Louisiana State University and an MBA from Texas State University, Mr. Minton serves on the boards of Regiment, LLC and Huntington Oil and Gas.
